British TV
I know that we haven't talked much about TV in class, nor are we focusing on Western/Northern Europe, but does anyone else like Doctor Who or Torchwood?
I watched the first half of the first episode of Torchwood but couldn't really get into it. Is it any good? I might try to pick up again if I have the time.
In case anyone else wants to watch it, the first season is on instant play on netflix.
I absolutely love Torchwood, but it does take some time to get used to, especially since the characters have some interesting physicalities and thick Welsh accents. The second season is even better than the first, in my opinion. But, you have to be open to the campiness that Doctor Who introduced or you'll never be able to move past that. I believe that the series is more about character development than the plots — think Hitchcock and the MacGuffin convention.
